Great Cheap Jeep Upgrades JK 2023
Even if you don’t like Jeeps, you have to admit that the Jeep brand has created a great aftermarket in the last few decades. Almost any part or accessory you can think of for a Jeep has been made or will be made and sold to Jeep fans all over the world. So many parts, in fact, that there are businesses that only sell parts and accessories for Jeeps and do very well.
As a Jeep fan, picture yourself sitting back with a thick catalog that has nothing but Jeeps. It’s like a child in a candy store. So it can be almost too hard to find a few small, inexpensive ways to improve your home. So, we made a short list of five very cool, very useful, and very cheap upgrades for your Jeep. Our list is only for the JK Wrangler, but these same upgrades are also available for older Jeeps.
Let’s just say right off the bat that if you decide to buy one of these cool cheap jeep upgrades, you should do your research first. Not always is that big Jeep catalog the cheapest place to get parts. In many cases, we found the same item on Amazon and being sold by the manufacturer for up to $15 less than what we thought was the best price out there.

Black Aluminum Rugged Ridge Hood Catches
It’s cool because: First of all, Rugged Ridge Aluminum Hood Catches are really cool looking. These hood catches look a lot better than the rubber and plastic ones that come with the car, which turn colors 3 months after you buy it. Made of cast aluminum with stainless steel hardware, they are strong, durable, easy to install (just bolt them on), and can be adjusted. You may have heard of hood flutter.
At higher speeds, this is where your hood seems to rise a little because air is coming in through the grill. Due to the cheap rubber hood catches that come with the hood, Jeeps are known for their hoods flapping. With these sharp catches, you can say goodbye to hood flutter. Sold in pairs and come with a 5-Year Limited Warranty. Rugged Ridge’s prices start at $88.99 on Amazon.
GraBars are front and back grab handles.
Why it’s cool: Sometimes you just need a good, solid place to grab onto when you’re getting into your Jeep or just wheeling through a tight spot. The nylon loops wrapped around the roll bar are the most common way to grab onto a Jeep. Most of the time, they’re fine, but in many Jeeps, the best place for a grab handle is closer to the windshield. From that spot, it’s easier to pull yourself up and get into your seat.
These handles do exactly that. Each front grab handle is made from a solid 3/4-inch rod and powder-coated with UV-protected textured paint. It mounts to the windshield pillar with the hardware that comes with it, using factory bolt holes. This gives you a solid, comfortable place to help you get into your Jeep.
The new hardware comes with everything you need to attach the rear grab handles to the roll bar where the factory bolt holes were. Each Grabar has a rubber grip that makes it easy to hold on to. The right handle for a Jeep that has been lifted. Made for the Jeep JK, the Jeep TJ, and the Jeep YJ. Comes with all the necessary hardware and a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects and poor workmanship. Made in the United States.
Price on the list: $97.00 for just the front

Quadratec Guards for Front and Back Doors
Why it’s cool: This is a Jeep part that seems like it should have come with the car from the factory. If you’ve ever put on wet boots and stepped on a painted door threshold, you may have noticed how slippery it can be.
Also, if you buy a new Jeep, that painted threshold will get scratched, chipped, and rusty in no time. You can put these easy-to-install entry guards on for less than $50. They will protect the new paint or just cover up the old, worn-out entry.
Then you won’t lose your footing as you step up. Made of black thermoplastic elastomer, so it can take a lot of abuse for a long time. These threshold guards stick on with 3M peel-and-stick tape, so you don’t have to drill or cut anything. It was made in the United States and comes with a 3-year limited warranty.

Black Rugged Ridge Tail Light Guards
It’s cool because: Jeep tail lights have always been known for sticking out of the body and being easy to damage because of this. The Jeep JK’s tail lights stick out a little less than those on older Jeeps, but they are still out there and could get damaged on the trail. Jeep JK tail light guards have been made by more than one company, and their prices range from less than $50 to around $200 for Mopar-made guards.
Rugged Ridge made a set for the 2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler 2-door and 4-door Unlimited that not only looks good and protects well, but also costs less than some other sets. These guards are made of steel and are very easy to put up. They also look great. You don’t have to drill or cut anything to put these guards in place.
All you need is a Phillips screw driver. They come in gloss black powder-coated steel and sell for about $47.00 for a pair. Available from Amazon and most other catalog sellers. Prices vary, so do some shopping!
Locking Under Seat Storage Box from Bestop
Why it’s cool: Jeeps are known for being easy to break into because they aren’t very safe. Why? Well, maybe it has something to do with the top being soft and easy to cut. So many companies have stepped up and made lock boxes that fit in different places, like strong boxes that fit in the center console.
Jeep, on the other hand, has a locking center console to meet the need for storage space that can be locked. But the factory center console lock is weak and can be broken with a strong pull. So your valuables are at risk, and you can’t take that chance with some of them. Bestop came up with this line of under-seat bolt-down locking storage boxes for the Jeep JK that are not only hard to see from the outside but also very hard to break into.
These slide out locking storage boxes are made of heavy-duty 16 gauge carbon steel and have a lock that is hard to pick. They offer 205 cubic inches of storage space for a great price. These under-seat boxes are 17 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide, and 3 3/4 inches high. They won’t get in the way of your feet if you’re sitting in the front driver or front passenger seat, and they won’t take up any space for your rear passengers’ feet either.
Finished with a black textured powder coating, they are a must-have for any Jeep owner who may need to leave behind things they can’t afford to lose to thieves. Very easy to put in because you don’t have to drill or cut anything, and you can use the hardware you already have. Available from Amazon and most other catalog sellers. Prices vary, so do some shopping!
About $55 for the driver’s side and $65 for the passenger’s side.
